Janelle Monae.
Get into it, people. This is music.

The Concussion of Two-Ten
Even If It Worked Out Cloud Nothings
My little brother busted his face!!
Last night poor Sky got a knee to the head while playing "King of the Hill" in the pool with his friends. . . not to mention 14 stitches and a concussion. I think it's safe to say that he had a pretty bad night. But I'm diggin' the thumbs up. What a champ.
My poor mom was freaking out. Who knew a knee could do THIS to a head??
Hope you are feeling better, Sky.

Mother Tongue
Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues (Bob Dylan Cover) Lisa Hannigan
I just finished Bill Bryson's The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way
Definitely a worthwhile read if you are interested in linguistics and the English language
Here are a few fun facts I learned:
I just finished Bill Bryson's The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way
Definitely a worthwhile read if you are interested in linguistics and the English language
Here are a few fun facts I learned:
- The days of the week are named after Celtic pagan gods, including "Thursday" after Thor (mighty god of thunder).
- The Japanese have adopted a bunch of Americanisms like rushawa for rush hour.
- Why did great original American words like teetotaciously, helliferocious, and conbobberation die out?
- Noah Webster is an American hero! It is thanks to him that we have our more simplified American spellings. For instance, "color" instead of the Bristish colour with the u. But thank goodness that not all of his spellings made the cut, like wimmen instead of "women." That's just weird, Webster. Although iz (is) would have been cool. You had my vote on that one.
- Shakespeare gave us about 1,685 of our English words, including leapfrog, barefaced, majestic, monumental, obscene, etc.
- There was also an entire chapter on English swear words, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I now know the origins of about every naughty word in the book. Thank you, Bill Bryson.

I Dare You.
I dare you to watch this video through without smiling or finding yourself in better spirits afterwards.
Just try it. I DARE you.
So jolly. Billy Preston is just too good.
Oh. . . and if you didn't smile, you don't have a soul.

Dancin' in the Street 1985
This may be either the best or absolute worst thing I have ever witnessed, but its existence brings me so much joy:
What an explosive duo! After watching this, I am inspired to dance almost anywhere-- even in the street.

Honey Straws
Summer Holiday Wild Nothing
My new favorite snack. . .
Flavored honey straws from the Provo farmer's market. (strawberry featured)
Then again, I think I love anything that comes from the farmer's market experience: Lemonade in the park, exotic foods, free samples, talking to the honey man about the flowers and the bees (not to be confused with "the birds and the bees"), holding free kittens. . .
Everything is just right in the world.
Hooray for Summer.

I forgot to take a camera to the market, so all you get is this lousy photobooth pic.
