Helplessness Blues

Such a glorious song! can't wait for the whole album.

Definitely digign' on the album art as well.

I have been tipping the bottle real hard these days. . .

+ The other day I spread some on my turkey sandwich
+ I put it in my Ramen noodles
+ I even poured some in my mouth when Jacob wasn't looking.

I admit I have a problem.

Boom Laka Laka

You don't know who Sly Stone is, you suck.

Props to my little brother for getting me shirt for Christmas. (I got him the same one) I guess family members just share the same tastes.

However, there is one sad thing that I have found out about America (or maybe just the BYU demographic) as I have been wearing this tee. . . there are many people out there who don't even know who Sly Stone is! I'm sure the average American can recognize at least 5 or 6 Sly and the Family Stone songs, but when I mention the name "Sly Stone" all I get are blank stares.

Come on people.

How would I get through my work out without 'You Can Make it if You Try'? How would I have any self-esteem without 'Thank you (Falettin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)'? How would I feel good about the world in general without 'Everyday people'? How would I enjoy the end of Shrek without 'Dance to the Music'? I owe a lot to this man.

And so on and so on and scooby dooby dooby . . .

Markers and Masterpieces

The other day I saw a little scribbled envelope at Jacob's house that was addressed to me. Jacob's little niece, Camilla, had mailed me some of her art work!

I was honored to receive this masterpiece from the little Picasso.
Thanks Camilla!!

A few days ago I had a nightmare that I was kidnapped by a crazy polygamist that looked like Gideon from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Jason Schwartzman).

This face has been haunting my mind ever since.

Crazy For You  Best Coast

Some times I try to stay mad at someone. . .

but I usually just give him a Burger King hat and let him eat my Sunchips.

It never works.

Balloon-shooting Safari

My Sunshine  Ty Segall

I've been waiting 23 years for this.

This was way harder than it looked.

Zions Nat'l

This the bush that smells like rain. Everyone was REALLY impressed with my knowledge of desert plant life.

This was my first time down to St. George and the parks in Southern Utah. I have have sensationalized these places in my mind for a long time now, and I was not disappointed. I knew Southern Utah would be way better than Provo. I especially loved the striking appearance of snow on the red rocks.
It was like snow on Mars.

"In Vegas, you can call me babe."

Young Blood  The Naked and Famous

Atop the Stratosphere. We rode ALL the rides: Insanity, XScream, and Bigtop.
We screamed our butts off.
 Mikey's first Vegas.
 Vegas thought of it first.
I was hoping for Claire de Lune, but I got God Bless the USA.
Can't complain.

Other Vegas highlights: Searching for a "vegas" buffet, finding that they are all expensive, and happily settling for Chipotle (can't get it in Provo, afterall). Bullying Jacob into finishing his huge burrito. Averting our eyes and laughing at everything. Every poster of "DIVAS." The Treasure Island pirate show that was more like a Pussycat Dolls Show. Being square Mormon kids, and being totally okay with it. Being so tuckered out that we had to take a cab back to our car. Showing up in one of the craziest places ever invented with no plans. . . just wide eyes and adventurous hearts.

Dye It Blonde

Weekend  Smith Westerns

Just listened to this album on  NPR All Songs Considered's exclusive first listen.
It is a poppy, summery ride to keep me warm during the long, dismal stretch that is winter semester.

Jacob took me to his favorite spot in San Fran.
It was too dark to get a pic of the view, but it was really lovely.

Flying back to Salt Lake together.
I hate flying, but he makes everything  better.

It was a lovely time,
all of it.
